On 23-24 September 2024, the representatives of the TU Dresden's Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) delivered a Workshop “Best Practice in Scientific Paper Writing”. Namely, the Workshop lectures were given by the Dr. Georgios Tzortzinis and Dr. Bruno Christoff, both having a good track record in research publications in structural and mechanical engineering, topology optimisation, additive manufacturing, etc.
The workshop was held in Dresden and involved 12 participants plus 1 more have connected online. They represented the research staff of the Polish partners TPF, WUT (Faculty of Material Science and Engineering) and AFIT.
The workshop was held in 2 days. The first day was dedicated to the audience identification, journal selection, and relevant tools. Specific presentations were dedicated to figures and tables, and the abstract of the publication. They were followed by the interactive sessions and practical exercises. During the second day the practices of development of specific sections of the scientific papers were discussed, including methods, results, introduction, and conclusions. Practical activities in groups and individually were also conducted. During the workshop real examples related to composites were shown and discussed.
The participants acquired new knowledge, learned best and most advanced practices, like for example application of the AI in this context. This will help to increase the number of the publications submitted by the Polish researchers to the peer-reviewed journals and will facilitate the application of the joint articles resulting from the COMP-ECO exploratory research.
The materials of the workshop will soon be available in the COMP-ECO Open Repository
